Urologist Questions Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Is benign prostatic hyperplasia more likely to occur as I age?

I'm a 52 year old man and I was recently diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia. I exercise regularly though and want to live a long life. I would like to know whether this is likely to grow into a serious prostate condition as I age.

Enlargment of prostate is much like thinning of hair. Every man experiences it to some degree as they age, and it tends to be progressive. However, the extent and timing of it is highly variable.
Treatment is warranted when the symptoms become troublesome, or there is evidence that its affecting your health (having blood in urine, having frequent infections, unable to urinate, develop bladder stone, retain too much urine in bladder).
A low animal fat diet may slow down the growth to some extent. Remember, Heart healthy is prostate healthy.
