My 15 year old son had open-heart surgery as a baby. Is exercise safe for a child with previous heart issues?

It depends on the surgery and what their disorder is. I would speak to their pediatric cardiologist.
Usually light or moderate exercise is safe, but it really depends on the type of surgery. There are some congenital surgeries that require no long-term exercise restrictions. I would ask your primary care doctor or your pediatric cardiologist if there are any specific restrictions for your child.
