Mohs surgery is no more painful than most other types of skin surgery. Local anesthesia is injected making the procedural priority. The procedure can however be somewhat long in duration

The procedure is done under local anesthesia and tricks for numbing are performed that reduce discomfort for a minimum. After the procedure, there can be pain worse in the first night, with 95% of the patients requiring only tylenol for pain control, other 5% may require a stronger medication depending on the case.
