Vascular Surgeon Questions Bypass Surgery

How will my life change after bypass surgery?

I am undergoing bypass surgery in a month or so. I am very nervous and want to hear from as many doctors I can about how different my life will be afterward.

To start your life from the physical stand point will be better , you will be free of pain , able to exercise and healing . However it is important to comply with medical treatment , cessation of smoking and follow up since the bypass could fail . Follow up with testing and physical examinations may detect problems that can be fix with small interventions
A bypass surgery for the lower extremity usually is than for limb ischemia or short intermittent clarification
Your quality of life should improve after a bupass
I really depends on what kind of bypass surgery you are talking about. If it is coronary artery bypass surgery you should have relief of chest pain or other heart related symptoms. If it is lower extremity arterial bypass surgery you should have relief of pain in your leg. Generally, if your doctor recommended a vascular bypass and the endovascular option is not available I would not delay it asking for multiple opinions. If you don’t trust the surgeon to do what is best for you I would recommend another surgeon.
