Ophthalmologist Questions LASIK

What are the precautions to be taken after laser surgery?

I recently underwent Lasik surgery for my eye correction. I think I'm all healed now but are there any long-term measures I should keep in mind?

After Lasik surgery, many people experience dry eye symptoms. I would suggest having a bottle of artificial tears available if you are going to be out in the wind or sun for long periods of time.
I am pleased you are doing well after surgery. I would follow any directions given by your operating surgeon. Often patients find artificial tears helpful and you should refrain from rubbing the eyes as lasik surgery necessarily thins the cornea and can make you slightly more susceptible to changed in the cornea with frequent rubbing.
I would always be careful not to get poked in the eye since that could potentially displace the LASIK flap. Also, patients after LASIK sometimes have dry eyes, so I would keep artificial tears handy as well.

Don’t rub your eyes. This can dislodge the flap of corneal tissue overlying the area of treatment. After a month, it is usually secure, but it's never wise to rub the eyes.

Avoid rubbing your eyes, and additionally the risk of retinal detachment always remains due to preexisting myopic degeneration
You should avoid contact sports such as basketball or wear goggles during these activities. Even long term flap years can happen with sharp contact to the eye
