For how long can I take protein supplements for my weight lifting?

I've been weight-lifting and taking protein supplements to help me train. Should I be on these supplements for a long period of time?

Indefinitely. I've been using for 20 years. The body can only absorb max of 40 grams a time, anymore usually just gets wasted.
They are harmless IF DONE IN MODERATION.
