“Can you please recommend the right formula for a 3 year old?”
My son is 3 years old and he's gaining weight quite slowly. Could you please suggest a formula mix that can help him gain the right amount of weight and help in his overall development?

Pediasure 8 to 16 oz a day can usually give a boost to the 3 year old slow grower. He does not need infant formula.
As a general rule a child of 3 years should be off formula by twelve months of age. The nutritional demands at that point can no longer be met by liquid formulas alone. The need for omega 3’s in quality fats (avocado etc) are then essential for the rapidly growing brain, quality protein in eggs, fish, and meats, & beans are necessary for muscle and body growth, and good carbohydrates (No High fructose corn syrup) for energy can be found in fruits, vegetables, and grains.
A nutritional smoothie would be a terrific calorie boost which your child would more than likely consider to be a treat. Were you to “Google” Dr Bill Sear’s Family nutrition information, he has a number of wonderful smoothie recipes that could be added once or twice a day to boost nutritional intake. This could be used from now through all school years as a good habit for better eating.
Remember to introduce new foods up to as many as 14 times if initial resistance is met. What is not liked at first becomes accepted - 98% of the time - after diligence and sometimes different ways of preparation are utilized.
Most toddlers like to “graze” on nutritious snacks that are left out on coffee tables, and seen in passing.
Hope this has been informative and helpful to you.

After 2 years of age, the expected healthy weight gain is 5 pounds per year. It is impossible to provide you with an exact formula for his daily nutrients as there are other factors needed to be placed in consideration, like height, labs, urine, healthy environment, care takers ........ please schedule an appointment with your MD to discuss the weight of your son.
