“Should my mother continue her metformin?”
My mother has been consuming Metformin tablets for over 10 years. She is now 74 years and is experiencing low blood sugar levels. Should she be continuing her metformin tablets?

Let her primary care check her levels to make that decision. But low sugars are dangerous as they can cause falls in the elderly.
