“My son has been vomiting up nearly everything for 2 days. Should I do a stool test?”
My 10 year old son has been vomiting up almost everything the eats for the last couple of days. I took him to the doctor, who said it was a stomach bug and should pass soon. I am wondering, though: should I get a stool test done for my son to see if there is another cause of this vomiting?

Have him seen again if the vomiting doesn't stop by the third day. Get lab tests only if the child's doctor, who examined him, recommends it.
Is he having diarrhea? Is he dehydrated or running a fever? He may need some medication to stop the vomiting or IVF if dehydrated. If he has persistent diarrhea, a stool test for culture parasites can be helpful.
