You really need to see a dentist to determine the origin of your tooth pain, but until then, take otc anti-inflammatories like Advil.

Hello,
Thanks for your question. Tooth pain is best addressed when we know and understand the cause and source of the pain. After proper assessment and diagnosis, treatment will be recommended and drugs (if any) will be prescribed. If a dentist is not available in your location, take an nsaid (ibuprofen 200mg-400mg as needed for pain).

The best thing to take for tooth pain is high strength ibuprofen and Tylenol. The mixture of these two over the counter pain medications have been proven to almost as effective as a narcotic. You want to take 800mg every 8 hours and Tylenol every 4 hours after you have taken the ibuprofen. If the dental pain continues to worsen, you can go to urgent care for antibiotics.
For short term relieve Ibuprofen works well. If you weigh over 150 lbs, 600 mg (three normal 200 mg pills) is the recommended maximum effective dose every 5 to 6 hours to a maximum of 3000 mg per day. If you find that isn't cutting it, you can add 1 Excedrin OR 1 Tylenol to the Ibuprofen. This will only work short term for mild to moderate pain. If this doesn't work (and even if it does) you should definitely get some help. Healthy teeth do not cause pain.
Needless to say, you ought to go to the dentist ASAP. The best over the counter pain relief comes from alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen as directed on the box.
First of all, you need to have a dentist diagnose why you’re having pain so it can be treated. In the meantime, you can safely take the combination of 600mg ibuprofen, 500mg of acetaminophen and 25mg of benedryl all at the same time to get the maximum amt of pain relief. This can be repeated every 6 hours but I stress that you must have it diagnosed because there may be a serious underlying problem that this regimen of medication will not fix by itself.
