Plastic Surgeon Questions Age Spots

What can be done for age spots on hands?

As I'm getting older, I'm noticing that there are so many age spots on top of my hands. Is there anything you can do to get rid of them? They're so unflattering.

Age spots on hands and faces are common problems. In order to improve the hyperpigmentation that causes the spots, it is crucial to apply sunblock daily. A daily skin care regimen utilizing gentle lightening agents such as SkinMedica Lytera or SkinCeuticals Pigment Regulator can be very helpful. If the gentle treatments are not effective, a 4% hydroquinone cream such as Obagi Clear may be used for a few months to boost lightening. Laser treatments such as Fractional CO2 resurfacing are very helpful as well for more rapid results, but require strict sunblock use following treatment to avoid recurrence.
Hello,

Yes, it depends on the examination of the age spot on your hand.
At a well equipped skin care facility you should have access to bleach creams, chemical peels and laser treatments, all of which, together or alone can significantly fade age spots. However, you will probably have to have multiple sessions for best results.
