Definitely see a podiatrist, pain, and redness are not normal.
There are several causes of toe pain. An examination is recommend to determine the cause of the pain.
I would go see a doctor this could be a infection or gout or even bad inflammation and may need some treatment
This will progress if left untreated. If it is the toenail, then you may get an infection. If it is at/around the joint, it may be a bone spur.
Yes, you should visit a doctor either your family doctor or a podiatrist. You could have an infection you could have an ingrown nail you could have gout. There are many, many possibilities, but it is not normal to have a red sore toe.

It can be fracture, infection, gout, or many other condition(s). You should have the condition evaluated.
Yes, you should visit a podiatrist.
Yes visit a doctor right away
If the pain is around the nail, it could be an ingrown nail. Sometimes, it needs to be removed by your podiatrist.

It sounds like you may have an infection. Make an appointment to see your podiatrist as soon as possible.
Yes, you probably should get it checked out.
Yes with redness and unexplained pain you should go see a foot Doctor
If your toe hurts and it is becoming red, this could be a sign of an ingrowing toenail. Recommend you see a podiatrist.

Hello and thank you for your question. The most common cause of pain with redness to a toe in a 23 year old is a paronychia otherwise known as an ingrown nail. In my experience home treatments usually do not resolve the condition. I would seek a medical professional. In the meantime warm soapy water soaks with epsom salt can help ease the pain from the swelling secondary to the infection. Good luck to you.
It's possible that you have an ingrown nail or skin infection around the ingrown nail area. Soak in warm salt water 20 mins three times a day and see your doc if it's not improving
If it is red, it is possible you could have an infection, and you should immediately see a medical professional or specialist so that your infection does not spread. You may have an ingrown toenail. It could be some other issue.
There may have been trauma to the toe. I recommend you be evaluated by a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) to determine the problem and the appropriate treatment
