There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration, other than age, to help determine if you are a good candidate. It is best to confirm with your doctor if you are a elegible for laser eye surgery.
There is no best age, the lasers are FDA approved for over 21, and typically, people don't get surgery after age 50 or so because they usually develop a cataract at that age and just get cataract surgery.
LASIK is FDA-approved for those over 18 years. Normally we suggest you wait until eyesight has stabilized for two, full years before undergoing refractive surgery. i.e you should have no changes to your glass prescription during this period. The optimal age for LASIK is traditionally in the mid-twenties.
That’s a great question. In most cases 23 is a great age to consider laser refractive surgery. You certainly want to have a stable refraction but you can also enjoy being free from glasses longer, knowing that you will still need reading glasses on your 40s to 50s.
Generally older than 20, however, your glasses prescription should be stable for about 2 years to be safe.

It's variable for each individual. Mid-twenties is a good time as long as your prescription is very stable. I would meet with a refractive surgeon (lasik specialist) to discuss.

The best time for laser eye surgery is as soon as your glasses/contact lens prescription has stabilized. Usually this occurs in late teens or early twenties. Youngest age allowed for laser eye surgery is 18 in the US. The sooner you do the surgery, the more years of benefit you will have! A comprehensive screening exam needs to be done to assess candidacy. Please visit rexhamiltonmd.com for more details!
Hello, for nearsighted correction (Myopic Lasik), the ideal age for surgery is after age 21, when generally your refractive error has stabilized, to approximately age 40, before presbyopia sets in.
