“What is the difference between a hospitalist and a doctor?”
I have recently come across the term hospitalist and I don't recognize it. How is it different from a doctor?

A hospitalist is a doctor (physician) who works in a hospital setting caring for hospitalized patients. Hospital medicine is a relatively new medical specialty, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. While many patients, when they are hospitalized, are still cared for by their primary care physician, the trend in the U.S. has been for patients to be cared for by dedicated hospitalists, who only work in the hospital setting taking care of inpatients.
