I am a 44 year old male. I will get an acupuncture treatment tomorrow. What should I do after acupuncture?

Relax. Eat healthy food in unstressed environment. Bath the following day instead of afterwards (or before in the future). Go to bed early. If you feel tired, take a nap. You know... listen to and respond to your body's needs. Hope that helps!
Hi
Ususally you can do everything, unless your acupuncturist remind you not to do.
Hope this helps

You can do anything you want! I recommend drinking lots of water and doing some light stretching at night.
Many people go right back to work after an acupuncture treatment. Some people find that they like to rest or take a nap after a treatment. This can vary from person to person. I always recommend that my patients stay hydrated and eat clean after an acupuncture treatment.
After treatment should be about rest & relaxation. Usually after acupuncture you will feel subdued and sleepy, this would be the perfect time to let the body rest & recover: self-heal. The following morning you should feel more refreshed and able to continue as the day goes on. The daily activities depend on what you were treated for with acupuncture; for instance, if you had backache and were treated for that I wouldn’t recommend you start lifting heavy objects or go out dancing immediately after. Otherwise, you should be able to continue your routine after a session of acupuncture and your practitioner will be able to tell you what to expect and how long between treatments for the best recovery from the main complaint.

During a 40 minute acupuncture session, Qi is moving, changes are happening in your body and healing is taking place. When you come back home after an acupuncture session, you want to avoid over-eating, avoid over-excursion, avoid hot or cold baths. Be more quiet and in a meditative mood, in order to assimilate the treatment.
I always recommend drinking plenty of water after a session, along with a nourishing meal. Try to take it easy and relax, especially if it is your 1st session. Everyone's reaction to acupuncture is different, so for your first visit try not to do anything too strenuous afterward.
I recommend you enjoy the favorable effects of acupuncture treatment, stay relaxed, avoid copious meals and intense physical efforts, continue with your normal routine of the day and with all the recommendations provided by your acupuncturist.
We usually recommend to rest after an acupuncture appointment to maximize the effectiveness. We don’t recommend to drink alcohol. Avoid any type of exercise as well.
I realize this response is well after the time in which you were getting your first acupuncture session. I hope it worked out well for you. Nonetheless, I will put in my two cents!
My suggestion would be not plan anything too elaborate after treatment. Some people feel energetic or in less pain after treatment and then they do too much and think that the treatment didn't work. It's important to relax after treatment. Do some stretching, meditation, a hot relaxing shower maybe. It may take time to feel the effects of acupuncture and that really can't be experienced if you are rushing here and there. Sometimes, patients say they didn't feel anything after treatment, but then report of better sleep, less pain or shorter periods of pain, feeling at ease, and so on. These are all common with acupuncture and pain relief is not always immediate. I ask my patients to kind of mentally scan their bodies to see if they feel any subtle changes to try to learn to listen to what the body is saying. Has the pain changed in location or quality? Has it become of a shorter duration when it does come on? Does it wake you from sleep? Of course, pain is not the only reason people seek out acupuncture, but other changes may be noticed if you learn to become more self aware.
I hope you had an enjoyable experience!!!

You just spent valuable time and money to help your body rebalance and heal. The best scenario is to continue the positive effects of the treatment. Your body will be in a state of relaxation and will have done a workout on a micro level to restore balance and promote healing. Drink 4-6 ounces of warm water or herbal tea every 1-2 hours. Take a gentle walk. Breathe deeply. Put yourself to bed early enough to get 8 hours of sleep, or if your not a great sleeper yet, relaxing horizontal time. Steer clear of cold food and drink; opt for warm nutrient rich food like soups or congee. Follow the specific instructions of your acupuncturist. And if you haven’t yet book your next appointment. Acupuncture is cumulative. Your body will respond faster, retain the balance longer and ward off imbalance with each return visit.
What to do after acupuncture, depends on what was treated. If sports acupuncture and you feel sore after treatment, then rest it. If the treatment was for an internal medical problem then you may need to sleep, diet or fast after. No matter what, listen to your body and communicate with your provider.
Drink plenty of fluid, no swimming or no sport games right away. Ten percent of people after the first acupuncture session can feel lethargic, so rest about 10 minutes before driving away from the treatment.
In the words of my teacher, no sex, drugs or rock and roll. Make sure you can rest after your treatment (you may feel fatigued which is normal), and avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, and OTC medications if possible. Be sure you DO take medications prescribed by your doctor, though.
Hello and thank you for your question! After your treatment, you should keep hydrated and rest! Your acupuncturist should give you more tips following your treatment to allow for optimal results.
Hello! Post-acupuncture recommendations will be plenty of rest, fluids, and no vigorous physical activity.
Follow how you feel. If you're hungry after, eat. If you feel tired after, rest. If you feel motivated to be active then be active (but don't over do it). As the acupuncture is regulating your body, follow how the body responds. Ask your practitioner if they have any other added thoughts for your particular case.
After treatment, please still lay down on the table for 2 minutes, and within 2 hours please don't take shower.
Thank you!
Thank you!
You can double check with your provider about after-care, but I don't typically tell my patients to avoid any particular actions after receiving treatment.
Occasionally, drowsiness can be an after-effect of receiving acupuncture. Having a light snack or meal after treatment can alleviate this effect.
