Stomach pain is common. Mostly it is not serious and treatable with over-the-counter drugs like omeprazole, antacids, or diet change. Pain from serious problems can be differentiated by medical work-up if no improvement with simple changes. Severe pain more likely is a serious problem, but a serious problem may not cause pain. So, abdominal pain is serious when associated with serious problems, but serious problems may not be associated with pain.
