Why do I see floating dots in my eyes?

I am a 26 year old male. I see floating dots in my eyes. Should I see a doctor?

Yes, floaters could be an indication of something dangerous, like vitritis, retinal tear or detachment, or vitreous degeneration.

Typically, floating dots are from normal breakdown of the vitreous strands between the lens and the retina. Less commonly, the floaters can represent blood or inflammatory cells which would require treatment. The only way to tell the difference is to get a check-up with an eye care professional.
