Hello

It could be muscular or growing pains. I would get an X-ray if it’s been going on for a while.
Wrist pain in a 6 year old can be due to many reasons, but by far the most common is a fracture of any of the bones in the wrist or the end of the forearm. You must see a physician first for an history and exam, followed most likely by an X-ray. Other causes are quite rare, and should only be thought of after exam and X-ray. As strange as it may seem, sprains of the wrist are uncommon at this age, so I would question this diagnosis.

It’s hard to know. Usually that would be an injury. Or rarely an inflammatory condition. I would recommend a consult with your local hand surgeon.

There are many potential reasons, most of which are of no concern. That being said, I would recommend you take your son to either his pediatrician or an orthopaedic surgeon to at least get an xray.
It is usually due to muscle strain. Does he play a lot of video games or phone games. Watch how he holds his pencil to write. Does he grip it? If there is no swelling try children's motrin and see if it gets better. n If not it may need to be checked.
