“Why does my child only have a fever at night?”
My 5 year old son has a fever only at night. What could be the cause?

Unless it has been going on for a long time, it is probably due to molars coming in. If it has been going on for a long time, you should definitely see your doctor.
Your body makes more cortisol from 4pm in the evening to 4am in the morning. This causes the body temp to be about 1 degree higher during this time. You add 1 degree to a low grade fever and it will be more at night.
