“Why does my daughter hear a clicking sound?”
My 9 year old daughter will randomly hear clicking sounds. Why does my daughter hear a clicking sound?

Clicking sounds may be due to fluid in the middle ear or bad function of the Eustachian tube. Sometimes may be disruption of the inner ear cartilages. However, the most common cause in kids is the tube dysfunction or middle or external ear fluids.

It could be her Eustachian tube clearing pressure in her middle ear space. Sort of like a yawn causing the eardrum to “pop” or when driving in the mountains and you experience a change in elevation and your ear suddenly clears. If she has a history of allergies or ear infections, I would recommend taking her to see an ENT to evaluate her middle ear function
Could be the jaw (temporomandibular) joint. Rarely this sound may come from muscle spasm of the small muscles connected to the middle ear bones. Stop gum chewing, hard candies. May need to see dentist for a night guard for grinding.
Well, it's hard to say for sure. Does it just happen in one ear? How long does it last? Does it happen with or without jaw movement? First ideas: could be ear wax shifting. Could be clicking with jaw movement. Could be middle ear muscle twitching. If you're concerned, you could take her to see her pediatrician or an ear, nose and throat physician.
