Why does pressing on my neck make my arm and wrist hurt?

I had some mild aching in my neck and found that when I pressed on the spot that hurt. I got pain in my wrist and lower arm. Why would this happen?

Possibly a nerve root irritation or compression.
Very hard to know based on your description. However, a pinched nerve in the neck can cause numbness, tingling and muscle weakness in the wrist and hand. If it persists, have an orthopedic or neurosurgeon check it out.

Hope it helps!

It may be caused by nerve irritation extending down from your neck to arm. Direct pressure may aggravate symptoms. If the pain continues, you should seek a medical evaluation.

You are probably impinging on a nerve root from either a spur or disc. If it gets better with ibuprofen, ice, and heat, no problem. If it gets worse, constant, or causes neurologic deficit to your hand and arm, immediate evaluation is needed.
