Why won't my son's runny nose stop?

My 8 year old son has had a runny nose for almost 2 weeks. I know colds last a long time but is this normal?

Hello

Most colds last about a week. He could have allergies. A nasal spray may help Hope he feels better.
This could be an allergy trigger such as pollen candles sprays, etc. Are you using claritin or zyrtec and nose spray? If not, try these. If it doesn't stop, further workup may be needed.

Common reasons would be allergy, adenoid hypertrophy, chronic irritant exposure. If unilateral, could be foreign body. See ENT
Colds can take two weeks or more to resolve, or it may be a sinus infection if the secretions running are green or yellow. It can also be an infection of the adenoid. Bottom line is, if it's not improving, you need to see your pediatrician.
