Ophthalmology | Retina Specialist Questions Cloudy vision

Will I need a retina surgery consultation?

I am a 47-year-old female. My vision has started to get cloudy in my left eye. Will I need a retina surgery consultation if I suddenly begin to lose vision in one eye?

A number of things could be causing this, see an ophthalmologist first.
Yes- this can be caused by a number of problems in the back of the eye. See a retina specialist
Hi,

I don’t think the information you’ve provided is enough to determine the cause of your reduced vision. It might be a retinal issue or might be a different issue all together. But a temporary blurring lasting for a few minutes first thing on waking only doesn’t sound like a serious issue.
You need to have a comprehensive eye exam to rule out everything from needs glasses, to cataracts, to diabetes, to glaucoma, etc.

You need a general eye examination to find out why your site is not as good as expected. You might need reading glasses or some diabetic changes, lens opacification, etc. A thorough eye exam should help to find out the underlying cause.

Possibly, you should see a general ophthalmologist first.

Yes if you think it's a good idea
That depends on the findings. First, see a general ophthalmologist who will determine the cause of sudden visual loss. If it is due to optic nerve disease, you should be referred to a neuro-ophthalmologist ASAP. If the cause is retinal, to a retinal specialist, etc.
