“Can yoga help in treating hypertension?”
Can I practice yoga to manage my issues with hypertension? Will it actually help me calm down?

The true form of yoga involves meditation, so, yes. The combination of exercise with meditation should help. However, no one can guarantee that yoga alone, even when combined with diet and exercise, will be enough. You may need medication.
Yoga can certainly help reduce blood pressure. Depending on the degree of severity of the blood pressure, with regular practice of yoga, it may also help treat high blood pressure.
Stress relief can lower blood pressure. Meditation, yoga, exercise would all qualify for 2-3 points of blood pressure reduction on the top number. A typical blood pressure pill can get 10-15 points on the top number to compare results.

Hello,
Yoga is wonderful to help reset your nervous system into a parasympathetic (calm, relaxed, focused) state. Anything that can add to this state of well being will help you overall. However, there are many causes and contributing factors to hypertension that can be addressed efficiently with naturopathic medicine.
