Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Peter K. Sangra, who serves patients in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

An esteemed professional in the field of child & adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Sangra is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental disorders in children, adolescents, and their families. Servicing the community, he is the Director of Child and Adolescent Programs at Peak Behavioral Health Services.

Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, Peak Behavioral Health Services is a private, 119-bed acute care and psychiatric residential treatment facility located in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Licensed as a specialty hospital, it offers several levels of care to meet the needs of children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and the military. These mental health programs are structured and designed to support those who are struggling with a mental health challenge, such as chemical dependency, in their lives. 

With a broad educational background, Dr. Sangra graduated with his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2012. He then went on to perform his residency in psychiatry at the  Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans in 2017.

A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, he is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
