No screening tests for bone scan . Doctor will order CT or MRI scan if he feels that your symptoms are caused by bone cancer (pain or swelling of bones)
A regular Xray would generally show up a bone cancer which would then need a biopsy to confirm the exact type.
Primary bone cancer is unusual in children and adults. If someone has persistent bone pain that is unexplained, a bone scan can be done, or an MRI of the area.
