Yes , microcurrent, but not as effective in my opinion
You can also do acupressure or micro-current electrical stimulation on the points. As long as you can get the energy flow back to 100% and you can get those meridians balanced, you're going to be able to produce health for the patient.
Acupuncture without needles we call digitpuncture or Shiatsu!
It is possible to do acupressure but then you are doing acupressure, not acupuncture. Acupuncture strictly speaking can only be performed with needles.
Yes, we call acupressure. You can use your fingers and tools. However, you need to where and how you can apply acupressure. You can learn from my website for free. https://silverlakeclinic.com/videos
In a word, yes. My method integrates Qi and needle work together. Another way to treat is to combine Qi and acupressure therapy.
There is non-inserted style Japanese Acupuncture called Shakuju that gently places the needles on the surface of the skin similar to a sham acupuncture it still has an effect, however the surface of your skin interacts somatic sensory with your connective tissue. Great for insomnia, anxiety and super peaceful. That being said this does nothing for orthopedic issues like joint pain or muscle knots, you need Acupuncture with needle insertion for that and Acupuncture with needle insertion is longer lasting. If you are a super sensitive person then either massage, reiki, shiatsu or non-inserted style acupuncture would be better for you. Everyone is different and has different sensitivity levels.
I have treated patients with pressure point work instead of using needles with some success. With my finger using pressure on the points that I would have needled can bring about positive results but needles, going to the depth that they do, accesses qi much more efficiently.
If you are worried about pain from needling, I want to assure you that acupuncture needles are very thin and do not feel like hypodermic needles. They are solid and not much thicker than a human hair. Needles are encased in a plastic guide tube and I put a lot of pressure on the guide tube so by the time the needle gets inserted you usually don't feel much at all. At least that what my patients tell me!!! But if you are dead set on not using needles, acupressure can be applied to the acupoints. There are other tools acupuncturists use to illicit a response; cupping, gua sha, magnets, press tacks, press seeds, therapeutic massage, moxibustion and so on. Good luck and be well.
Acupuncture has to use needles. The needles are as thin as a human hair, usually no pain during your acupuncture treatment. You maybe can try laser acupuncture if you don't like needles, but I have to tell you that needle acupuncture is different from laser acupuncture.
Hi,

Acupuncture without needles is called acupressure. In acupressure, the fingers and/or other instruments are used to stimulate the same acupuncture points and is non-invasive compared to traditional acupuncture. Acupressure is usually combined with massage to enhance the overall effect and effectiveness of the treatment.
No, needles are required. Acupressure doesn’t use needles.
Yes
There’s acupressure, which is still involving the acupuncture points, but without needles. Insertion, just pressure. It’s not nearly as effective, but benefit may still be derived.
By definition:

"Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.

Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance.

In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers."

The procedure without using the very thin filiform needles would not be acupuncture. However, the acupuncture points can be stimulated via "acupressure" or other methods such as: reflexology, shoni shin, and tui na. Please contact a licensed acupuncturist for further information.
You can do acupressure and press the same points as with acupucture, but the effect is not optimal in my opinion.
There is a style where the needle is held above the point but never inserted. There is also acupressure where the points are pressed instead of needled. A third way is to use magnets on points instead of needles.
Yes, it's acupressure
No.
So the word "acupuncture" is specific to using needling. We do have other methods to stimulate the Qi/Energy other than needles and some practitioners have their own unique take on what is effective. For me, I like to use 800 gauze magnets and prefer to use magnets on children (under 12). You can also apply pressure (acupressure), heat the points by burning herbs (moxibustion), or use lasers to stimulate the energy.
Acupuncture without needles is called acupressure.
Yes, acupuncture has many micro-branches: acupressure with magnets on the skin, laser acupuncture, cupping, cupping with infrared building devices, etc.
Yes! Instead of needles, acupuncture points can be activated using acupressure or moxibustion. Acupuncture also uses other techniques such as cupping and gua sha which don't involve needles.
When acupuncture points are used in a treatment it is known as Acupressure. The acupuncture points are stimulated with pressure not needles.
Needless acupuncture can be done with lasers and infrared, and seeds for acupressure. I do offer these services.
Usually acupuncture means we insert the short and hair-thin needle to some specific points on the body to stimulate and restore body's function. However, sometimes we also use finger to press these points, rather than needle, which named Acupressure. It depends on the patients' condition and need.
Yes, acupuncture can be done without needles. There are acupressure techniques which can be done either with fingers or a variety of tools. There are also a variety of seeds and press pellets which can be used in the ears and on body points to provide stimulation to address a health concern.

That being said, in my experience, needles give the quickest and longest lasting result.
No, can not, have to use needles.
