I am sorry to hear about your son's injury. Sports injuries can have long lasting or permanent affects if they aren't taken care of properly. I am also sorry to inform you but you cannot diagnose a herniated disc or discs from an X-ray you would need an MRI or CT scan to do so. If your son has not had an MRI to determine the severity of his injury I would recommend he gets one immediately. I would also recommend he see a Board certified fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeon and let them make the recommendation if he needs surgery or would benefit from conservative care like injury rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise/physical therapy, and/or chiropractic care.
I have several herniated discs from a motorcycle accident and they are and have been well managed with conservative care. Best of luck to you and your son!

We would start off just like we would with any other patient, with a consultation and examination, including imaging if it is warranted with the results of the medical history and the exam. When it comes to getting adjusted, there are many different techniques and depending on the age as well as the needs of the patient they may change. Adjustments for some one your daughters age would be similar to that of an adult patient. Most adjustments feel good and are associated with instant relief of joint pain or tenderness, joint stiffness, and muscle tension.

Kids make great Chiropractic patients and do well under Chiropractic care. Seeing as your daughter is a young athlete I would highly recommend she gets under Chiropractic care to help with her longevity in sports, especially if she wants to play competitive sports at the high school level, collegiate level, or beyond

There is no ideal treatment for sciatica as there can be many different causes. A thorough medical history, examination, and possibly diagnostic imaging may need to be performed to determine the cause of your sciatic, back, and hip pain. The best treatment would only be able to be determined after the cause is first determined. With that being said I have found in practice that patients who experience similar symptoms do best with a combination of Chiropractic care, therapeutic exercise, and myofascial release.
