You need a professional assessment from a qualified dermatologist to ascertain what caused the problem. Cracked lips can sometimes be caused by herpes virus and if you spread it to young infants, it can kill them. If spread to wife/husband's sexual organs, it can also cause many problems, including cancer.

Not all home remedies work; some are outright dangerous as well as causing damage beyond repair. Doctors go to medical school for many years to learn the secrets of healing; most grandmothers did not. I have personally seen numerous people trying to save money and avoid seeing specialists resulting in 20 years of sufferings, financial losses. Some even aggravated their conditions by using steroids and cortisone for years and years causing organ failures, etc.

Please remember the money you spend on seeing specialists and following their treatments will save you lots more money, time and sufferings.
