5 Key Benefits of Building Positive Relationships — Changes your Life for the Better & Forever

1: Improved Coping Mechanisms to Stress: Studies have found that for people who are in positive, committed relationships, and friendships, their coping and management of stress are improved. This has been linked to less production of cortisol, a stress hormone. When people cohabitate, obviously with the positive traits that I have been talking about, they are affected less psychologically by stress than, by a person living on their own. Being able to share and communicate your concerns, worries, dreams, and goals is a great buffer to the positive management of stress.

2: Improved State of Health and Ability to Restore Health: When you have a partner and friends who are positive and have a respect and desire to be healthy, this supports your actions in living a healthy life. Whether it be having someone who shares with you various aspects of being healthy. For example, foods to eat, medicines to take, encouragement with physical activities, going out, meeting people. Research has found that married people who have undergone heart surgery are three times more likely to survive the first three months after surgery than single patients. Married patients also reported feeling more confident about their ability to handle post-surgery pain and were less worried about the surgery in general. This is where a little emotional support can go a long way toward helping a person recover from a procedure or illness.

3: Engage in Positive, Healthier Behaviors, and Activities: When you engage with positive, health conscious people, it sets the perfect foundation for building a healthy lifestyle. If your spouse, partner, friends, or other relationships are into healthy eating, exercise, and not engaging in unhealthy habits such as smoking, taking drugs, or excessive alcohol consumption, this provides great support for you to live a healthy lifestyle. Making it a great deal easier to make positive changes, and take on healthy behaviors, actions, and attitudes.

4: Fuels your Desire and Sense of Purpose: An important aspect of the human form, is the desire to feel needed, to feel like you are part of something bigger, than just yourself. Being a part of positive, healthy relationships is a way of being able to do something that is good for someone else, improving their world in some way. An important aspect of loving, positive relationships gives you a heightened sense of well-being and purpose.

5: Not Only a Longer Life, but Improved Quality of Life: When you hear the words, adding years to your life, living a longer life this can be daunting unless the quality is also achievable. Research has found that for people who have built positive, healthy, social, and personal relationships, this has a great impact on them, not dying prematurely.

Everyone is unique and has their own needs and desires when it comes to relationships, handling stress, and living a positive, healthy, meaningful life. You may well be the type of person who enjoys your own company and being alone, this is fine, [I am one of those people] but realize that making the effort to interact and build close relationships as well, provides you with noticeable benefits to your mental and physical health.
