The answer to this question could vary depending on the intensity of work and whether or not there is just tightness or if there is pain too. Ideally, getting in more frequently in the beginning of starting chiropractic care will allow the body to stay more aligned and develop a pattern. Some chiropractors would start you at 2-3 times a week in the beginning of care and continue to decrease the number of weekly visits as you began to feel better and get you to maintenance care of roughly once a month to make sure nothing severe begins in the body with our daily traumas we put ourselves through. If it is just tightness, I would begin with once every other week for a few weeks.

There could be many causes to back pain. More information would be needed from the person's history (personal, family, work, trauma/ accident). One could also begin looking at posture or sleep patterns to see if the body is put into mal-positions for a majority of the day that could be leading to tight muscles and thus perceived pain.

Can a chiropractor help with carpal tunnel?

Absolutely! The position of bones in the neck, shoulder, and arm (upper arm, forearm and even the wrist), and bones in the hand can play a role in wrist pain perceived as carpal tunnel in some cases. Seeing someone that does chiropractic work to extremities would be who I sought out for carpal tunnel. Like most things in life, there is no guarantee that the pain will go away 100%. However, with proper alignment of all the bones involved in the chain from the fingers to the neck the body will be able to function more properly and discontinue use of muscles in the wrong manner. Misaligned carpal bones can also affect the carpal tunnel region. A chiropractor can also recommend a brace, one that can be worn during work or at night.

Yes. Due to the articulation the ribs have with our thoracic spine, when a thoracic bone goes out of place, it is likely that a rib moved. There are both anterior and posterior connections for our ribs that can become misaligned and cause pain. Sometimes this pain can be sharp and affect breathing. A chiropractor can contact the rib and give an impulse to put the rib back into place.
Can spinal misalignment cause anxiety?

Yes, when our spine is not aligned, then our nervous system is not functioning properly. When our parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems get out of line then we can begin to experience different emotions. A lot of the time it can also be caused from either physical, emotional, or chemical interference too. Making sure the spine is aligned, allows our nervous system to communicate at its highest potential and heal from within. Sometimes that level of healing is at a hormonal level which anxiety can be from.
How long does a chiropractic adjustment take to work for shoulder pain?

There is not one correct answer to how long it may take for chiropractic treatment to help with shoulder pain. Depending on the level of involvement of surrounding structures, if there was a broken bone at some point, if it is a chronic or acute problem, if it is from repetitive work or a one time incident. With the shoulder being a complex joint, it can take several months to get pain relief if irritating motions continue to happen. If it presents as a frozen shoulder, then that may take even longer, as many structures are involved then. However, there are cases where a few visits give relief to one with shoulder pain.
Does swimming help scoliosis?
Swimming in general is good for our bodies as it is a non weight bearing activity that allows our bodies to move in greater motions than on land when gravity is playing a part. READ MORE
Swimming in general is good for our bodies as it is a non weight bearing activity that allows our bodies to move in greater motions than on land when gravity is playing a part. I would suggest seeing a set of full spine X-rays to determine if the degree of scoliosis needs further treatment. Swimming would help keep the spine mobile, and in that sense it may help
decrease pain that may be experienced from scoliosis. However, I would not rely on swimming alone to make any changes to the lateral curvature of the spine, known as scoliosis. Monitoring would be key at that age.

How do you pop your middle back?

To get that popping sensation to occur in the mid back, I would suggest going in to see a chiropractor so they can evaluate the position of the bones in that area of the spine and apply a specific thrust to aid the bones in moving to the proper location. Sometimes the popping sound can happen with daily motions, but I would see a professional to get them into the right location.

Yes, a rib could pop back into place on its own. Due to the articulations our ribs have with our thoracic spine, it may go back to its normal location with thoracic motion. However, if it remains out of place the muscles, ligaments and tissues in that area will tighten up and may create a more long-term problem. I would suggest going in to get evaluated by a chiropractor to be sure the thoracic spine and ribs are in the right place.

The sciatic nerve typically presents as radiating pain shooting down the leg. Due to the different levels of entrapment in the piriformis muscle it can present in many ways. Some may describe it as numbness and tingling down their hamstring. I would get in to see your local chiropractor to make sure the pelvis and lumbar spine is aligned, but then also check the
musculature in the low back, glutes, and hamstring and ask for stretches to keep those muscles loose so that they are not encroaching on that nerve.

There are many different ways and techniques to adjust one's pelvis. The most common technique would involve evaluating the pelvis for any malposition and then making corrections to that misalignment. The most commonly used form would occur on a flat bench or drop table where the chiropractor would apply force to the hip bones and thrust them back into the proper location. Some chiropractors may also lay the patient on his or her side and manipulate the body in that position with a different thrust. Other techniques use an instrument or soft blocks to align the pelvis. There is no one correct way to do this.

I would advise against cracking your own back. A lot of the times when one tries to do this they will get the popping sound to occur and they may even get temporary relief, however, it is not typically taking care of the problem. I would continue going in to see your chiropractor and getting your bones aligned properly. At times, the bone that is actually the problem or that may be causing pain is not the one moving when patients try moving things on their own at home. That segment is typically more stuck and the bones above and below it are the ones that move in that instant. Thus only creating temporary relief as the main problem is still there. Get in to see your chiropractor.

The first thing I would do is evaluate posture. Is there something that is causing the imbalance? Also, when sitting, I would evaluate how your hips are, do you cross your knees or ankles or are you sitting criss cross applesauce. Different postures can cause our hips to go out of alignment. If you sit all day for your job, I would recommend getting a standing desk or taking walking breaks every 15-20 minutes. Most importantly, get in to see your chiropractor so you can make sure there isn't any major pelvic rotation causing them to continually go out.

The most ideal position for our bodies to sleep in is on our backs with a supportive pillow that allows our neck to have a natural posterior curve as well as laying with a small pillow under our knees to take pressure off of our low backs. Some people cannot sleep on their backs though and the next best position would be to sleep on your side with a pillow that allows our
neck to be neutral with our spine and then sleep with a pillow between our legs to help avoid pelvic imbalances. Obviously, when one is experiencing shoulder pain, it may not be possible to sleep on your side either, and in that instance, I would try sleeping on your back.
