Yes.. as long as the joint is not twisted! A bulging disc is the result of a malaligned vertebrae. The disc is mostly fluid and acts like a water balloon. if you step on a water balloon at an angle...the ballon will bulge away from the compression. When a vertebrae shifts backwards, from bending forward or looking down too much, the vertebrae will compress the disc at an angle and cause the bulge.
