Thank you for your question. Yes, Acupuncture can help with swollen ankles. First you will need to get an evaluation from a licensed Acupuncturist in your area. They can get a better idea of what is causing the swelling in order to treat your swelling. Good Luck! Sincerely, Yours in Health!
Yes. Acupuncture with massage and herbs can help relieve your swollen ankles gradually. I would recommend using these modalities 2-3 times a week for a couple of weeks to see improvement and get rid of this problem.
Often swollen ankles can be a symptom of something with an organ, usually the kidneys or heart. This should be seen by an MD.
Acupuncture can help to reduce swollen ankles caused by poor circulation
and/or an injury.

Yes, I have treated many patients with swollen ankles and their ankles reduced within the 15 minute treatment. Of course the treatment will vary depending on the cause like rolling the ankle or edema, fluid retention. Check with your primary to make sure alternative medicine would be a good option for your condition.
Hi there. Thank you for your interest in acupuncture. Yes, acupuncture can
help with swollen ankle. However, I'd highly recommend to also visit your
primary care physician to identify the cause of your edema. Please rule out
diabetes, high blood pressure, pregnancy, and many other conditions that
may cause leg edema.
Hi, and thank you for contacting our office.

Yes, acupuncture can help with swollen ankles, but we have to see if it’s related to an injury or something else.

Thank you so much for this question! The short answer is yes it is likely
that acupuncture can help reduce join swelling. Without knowing more
details, it’s hard to predict how many treatments it will take to see
results, but I can provide general guidelines. For recent/acute issues you
can expect to need 5-12 treatments and for more chronic issues you can
expect between 10-20 treatments to see sustained improvements.

Should you have any more questions please feel free to reach out!

Wishing you all the best,

Yes, acupuncture can help with swollen ankles. There are many causes for
swollen ankles including heart and kidney disease so it would be best to
identify the underlying cause of the ankle swelling do determine the best
treatment. In my clinic I would take a full history and perform a physical
exam to determine if co-treatment with, or referral to, another specialty
is also needed.
Yes, it can. I do not have the ability to know where your swelling is coming from, but acupuncture can move Qi and blood. What this means is that if there is a misdistribution of fluid, acupuncture has the capacity to move it and rid it from the body. With needle insertion in the right acupoints and the appropriate manipulation of those said needles, acupuncture helps to right that which is out of balance. Of course your practitioner will have to have the whole picture first....obtaining a detailed health history so as to aid in making an accurate diagnosis. Acupuncture works to treat the whole person, not just the problem at hand. With the correct Chinese Medical diagnosis and given enough treatments (typically at least 6), I'm sure you will see a change in the accumulation of fluid. Good luck!
Depends on the cause of the swelling.
Congestive Heart Failure can cause ankle swelling - Herbs can treat that better.
Injury - Acupuncture can remove the pain, help with blood circulation, and help with the swelling. If you use cold only use it in the very first hours. After that it will slow the healing and prolong the injury by reducing blood flow.
Yes, acupuncture can help reduce swollen ankles. Ideally, your acupuncturist should try to discover the root cause of the swelling, and address that as well. Unlike allopathic ("Western") medicine, practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine try to help bring the whole body into balance, not just alleviate symptoms. The acupuncturist may suggest additional therapies to help, based on their experience.
Acupuncture and organic Chinese herbs can help but I would first recommend getting your blood tested to find out potential causes of the swelling. A good acupuncturist should know how to read blood tests. Dr. Miura
Yes it can.
Yes.
I encourage you to book a session with your practitioner of choice to get help with relief.
Acupuncture frequently is used in this type of condition and sports injury.
Yes acupuncture can help with swelling and edema
Yes definitely.
Definitely probable. Most importantly, since you are thinking about doing acupuncture, do find a qualified and real acupuncturist! Anything less would be you not really trying this system of healing. Find a fully trained professional in Chinese medicine, possessing a master's degree AND 5+ years experience in this field. Medical Doctors, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, and even Physical Therapists (dry needling) are able to do what looks like acupuncture (but isn't) with a couple weekends of training or less. I would NOT let any of these inadequately trained people NEAR ME. :-)
Yes, acupuncture can help with swollen ankles.
Yes, needles and moxa can help with an injury-related swollen ankle. If it's a form of edema, you may have to use some other modalities, as well.
Whenever there is unusual swelling, it's always worthwhile to try to figure out what's causing it. Edema (fluid build up/swelling) in the ankles can have a few causes and heart failure is among the issues that needs to be ruled in/ruled out.

Acupuncture, and particularly moxibustion, can often help resolve swelling, but if there is an underlying heart issue that is left undiscovered or untreated the swelling is the least of your problems.

I'd suggest starting with your primary care physician to see if they can figure out why your ankles are swelling. If more serious root causes are ruled out, then you can pay a visit to NCCAOM.org and use their 'Find a Practitioner' link to get some local, board certified acupuncturists who may be able to help.
