My baby has hearing loss in her right ear. Can hearing loss affect speech?

Yes, hearing loss can affect speech as we have to hear sounds before we are able to produce sounds. All of our early language development is built on the amount of sounds and language we hear everyday starting at birth. Please seek a referral from your child's Pediatrician and request an evaluation from an Audiologist and SLP to work together on your child's communication journey.
Hearing loss can affect a baby's ability to hear speech and learn speech. I would recommend seeing an audiologist to see if your child is a candidate for a hearing aid. You may also want to look into speech therapy to help reduce a possible speech delay.
