“Can you straighten your teeth if you have implants?”
I am a 29 year old male. I wonder if you can straighten your teeth if you have implants?

Yes and no... if all of your teeth are implants, then you will need a prosthodontist to help straighten those out (by redoing your implant crowns in a better position), but if you have one implant that is far away from your crooked teeth, then it may be possible to still make some beneficial changes. Best to schedule a consult to see what can be done... or if you haven't gotten the implants yet, hold off on them until after your orthodontics are done.
You can straighten teeth, but you cannot move implants orthodontically. They are fused to bone. Teeth are not - they have a ligament around them which allows for tooth movement orthodontically.
We are seeing more and more people who have implants. Normally we are able to work along with implants already placed and many times we open space up for implants. So yes we can figure out a way, even if an implant might be in the way which can happen occasionally.
Hi!
Absolutely! You can definitely straighten your teeth and improve your smile even if you have dental implants. The implant itself cannot be moved, however, we are able to shift all the teeth around the implants and give you a more confident smile.
Cheers :)

Implants cannot be moved orthodontically, however as long as the implant(s) are in favorable position, the other teeth can be aligned. Each case must be evaluated individually in order to determine if orthodontics are a possibility...whether a patient has implants or not.
The implants cannot be moved, but can act as anchors when moving other teeth. Depending on what needs to be corrected, the implants can be helpful, a hinderance, or have an impact,
Yes you can straighten your teeth with Orthodontic treatment even if you have implants. However since the implants can not move, there may be compromises that have to accept depending on the number and location of implants. A consultation with an Orthodontist would be needed in order to properly evaluate your teeth and give you options.

It depends on what teeth. You cannot move an implant like a natural tooth, so, if the other teeth around it change, that might not work. You can sometimes rarely work around the implant.
If you have implants, you can have orthodontic treatment. But the implants cannot be moved. All the other teeth will have to be moved to align with the implant teeth.

In general, you can certainly have a great chance of straightening your teeth even when you have implant(s) already - because your orthodontic provider will look at the natural teeth and implant(s) that you have [by evaluating both your x-rays and teeth & gums in your mouth] when planning the treatment you needed for straightening. Everyone is different and would require a personally optimized treatment plan, so please consult your orthodontic provider!
