When we talk we also hear the other person and ourselves. As we hear ourselves we adjust accordingly. That is the loop.
Obviously without hearing the communication is based on lip reading and some information derived from facial and body language.

They shouldn't be. Very different processes. Colleges used to group the degrees together but that has changed
Hearing issues definitely cause speech difficulties in people who especially have severe hearing loss. The earlier these conditions are addressed the chance for success are increased

Audiology is the hearing of sounds made by speech and language. Audiologists can test which sounds or levels of sound are impaired. Speech and Language Pathologists diagnose and treat disorders of speech and language production, as well as swallowing disorders.

Audiology and speech language pathology are usually taught together in the undergraduate level to get people to see which field they'd like to pursue. Audiology is the study of hearing, the hearing system and balance disorders. It involves diagnostics and treatment. Speech language pathology is the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders, voice, and swallowing impairments.
