I tell everyone the same thing, if you go into it wanting the replacement teeth. You will adjust quickly, if you go into it saying “I don’t want these” well, I wish you good luck.
Any denture needs time to rehabilitate, if there is any discomfort in eating you might need some adjustment by dentist.
Unfortunately some people never get used to partials, however the best way is to keep wearing them, assuming they fit well.
Only with a positive attitude. They are prosthetic devices and replace normal function and need adaptation
Persevere and go for adjustments as needed
Keep wearing the partial dentures. Do not overdo by eating hard or chewy foods right away. Reading aloud is good to overcome any speech issues. See your dentist for adjustments before anything gets extremely sore.
It is hard to get used to partial dentures, especially if you had them for the first time. You have to be patient and might need multiple minor adjustments by your dentist as you use them. Thanks.
Wear them as much as possible. Start with a short time and gradually build up the time you wear them. Do not sleep with them in your mouth.
Wear them during the day as much as you can. Try reading a book, magazine or newspaper out loud. It lets your mouth get used to having the new appliance in there and teaches it how to function around it. This has proven helpful to my patients and I hope it helps you too.
It's not uncommon that partial dentures feel strange for a first time wearer. Just like anything else, with time, this feeling will pass. The best thing you can do is wear the dentures, use them to eat and speak as much as possible. We are highly adaptive creatures and with time we can get used to most things.
Clean it after each meal and keep it in your mouth even during sleep and at night. The more time you keep it on the better and faster you get used to it.
Keep it in place as much as possible and go to your dentist for any adjustments so you can use it painlessly.
