Keeping the joints mobile helps to bring blood flow to the knee joint which helps to reduce swelling and pain. Other options include
If your knee arthritis is not so bad that a knee replacement is the only option, then mobilization, manipulation and strengthening can be very helpful. We also use therapies such as Stemwave or Shockwave therapies to help break up scar tissue and adhesions and bring healing cells to the area of concern. There are many ways to treat knee pain depending on what the actual diagnosis is. Arthritis diagnosis is sometimes a simplified diagnosis. The doctor needs to determine the cause of the arthritis and try to change that. I hope this info is helpful. Dr. Eric Miller- Orland Park, IL
Absolutely!
The first step is to get an accurate diagnosis by ordering imaging tests, such as X-rays or MRI, to assess the extent of joint damage.
After confirming the diagnosis of knee arthritis, the next step is to develop a tailored treatment plan. This plan may include a combination of various interventions based on your specific needs, symptom severity, and overall health. Treatment options can include:
Medication: Prescribing pain relievers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or corticosteroid injections to manage pain and reduce inflammation in the knee joint.
Physical Therapy: A physical therapist can design an exercise program to strengthen the muscles around the knee, improve range of motion, and reduce pain.
Recommending the use of assistive devices like braces, orthotics, or canes to improve mobility, reduce stress on the knee joint, and provide support.
Advising you on lifestyle changes such as weight management to relieve pressure on the knee joints and reduce pain.
In cases where conservative treatments are insufficient, surgical interventions, such as arthroscopy or joint replacement surgery, as an option for advanced or severe knee arthritis cases.
Monitoring your progress and adjusting the treatment plan as needed is vital.
By seeking medical help, you can receive a proper diagnosis, personalized treatment, and ongoing support for managing knee arthritis effectively. Remember, each case is unique, and the treatment approach will depend on your specific circumstances, so it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate assessment and appropriate guidance.

I have seen some knee arthritis helped with stretching. Co management with a PT or chiropractor and you family doctor can help you.
The most important thing is to have a specific diagnosis, whether you have osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, or some other condition. The role of weight management and or weight loss, exercise, and physical therapy should be discussed. Appropriate use of acetaminophen or over-the-counter Advil or Aleve can also be discussed. The role of a topical agent like Voltaren gel can be recommended. Sometimes, prescription nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs can be used. For more difficult to control pain, steroid injections and or injections with the substance hyaluronic acid can be considered. For progressive knee arthritis that causes pain and difficulty functioning and interferes with day-to-day life, joint replacement surgery is an option.
Chiropractic may be able to treat the cause of your osteoarthritis. Many patients see improvement. However, the joint may be damaged from long term misalignment and it could take some time to improve. We believe chiropractic can help with many things, even things that it's not meant to treat, as an ancillary benefit. Drinking plenty of water will keep your tissues hydrated, which may also help to some extent.
Laser therapy Class 4 can help symptoms of knee arthritis quickly. I have two of these Lasers at my Clinic where I see outstanding results for knee arthritis and even meniscus injury get better and avoid surgery.
