“How do I get rid of the black line on my gums?”
I have black lines on my gums. What could be the cause? Should I see a dentist?

If it is around all of your gums and you don't have crowns it is probably normal pigmentation in your tissue.
You should see a dentist. It could be stain that a hygienist can clean off or a cavity that can be fixed.

Black lines on your gums could be caused by the accumulation of calculus along the gum line in which case you would need deep scaling. If the black line is in the area where you have a crown, that's from the metal inside the crown that shows along the margin. You can replace the crown with a metal-free crown to correct that. Another possible cause could be that it's the level of melanin in the gums that can cause the gums to look darker in certain areas. The best way to determine the cause would be to get evaluated by your dentist.
Yes, you should. It could be the normal pigmentation of your gums or the edges of a restoration. Your dentist will be able to discern what the issue is.
A black line on the gumline of a natural tooth could be decay, which is usually fixed with a filling. If the tooth has a crown it could be a metal coping under the porcelain which would require a new crown. If it has been a long time since your last cleaning it could be a buildup that has gotten so tenacious that it has taken on a dark color. If you have darker colored skin it could be the gums themselves that present with patches of pigment which is normal and healthy.
