“How do you fix bulging disc?”
I was diagnosed with a bulging disc. How do you fix bulging discs?

We try to shrink the disc by bathing it with a steroid and doing therapy like lumbar traction. Time also will let the disc dry up if there is not continued pressure on it
More than likely a doctor of Chiropractic will x-ray, possibly get an MRI or utilized the ones that you just had to get that diagnosis if taken in the proper manner. They may specifically adjust the vertebrae involved and possibly utilize decompress as part of the treatment. Along with teaching the client good spinal hygiene stretching to be done at home once the clients is able which will be determined y the doctor after a revaluation. I hope that helped. Dr. Shanti
Hello and good morning! Apologies on answering this question super late. The answer to the question is through chiropractic distraction of the joint space. Imagine squeezing an Oreo cookie and the icing in the middle expands outwards past the cookie. What would you do to bring the icing back into the cookie so it is not expanding past the cookie? You would lift the cookie up and push the icing back into the cookie. Essentially this analogy is meant to serve how distraction of the joint space allows the material within the disc to recede back into the disc. With long axis distraction, which is stretching the spine in the y-plane (vertical plane) we are allowing that to happen. Now the treatment for bulging discs/herniations takes time. Depending on the size of the bulge it may take weeks to sometimes months for the disc bulge/herniation to recede back into the disc. However, with research, and scientific data; this method of treatment absolutely works! Hope this answers your question! Christopher Wydler D.C.
To address a bulging disc there needs to be a better understanding of your specific case. A new patient process includes a patient intake, consultation, and physical examination to further understand the potential root cause of this type of condition or injury. With disc bulges or disc herniations, x-rays and MRIs may be warranted to assess the extent of the condition or injury. There are certain exams during the new patient process that are performed to understand the severity. Some positive exams may warrant you to be referred to the emergency room, urgent care, neurologist, MD, DO, or orthopedist. If no referral is needed, diagnostic imaging may be warranted as further examination (as stated above). If those above paths are not needed then addressing the condition with chiropractic care may be palliative in the alleviation of these imbalances creating dysfunction in the body, such as disc bulges. There are various techniques in chiropractic. Throughout an active phase of care, it will be determined if the patient is responding favorably to certain techniques. For disc bulges, the frequency may be on the higher end: 6 visits/2 weeks or 12 visits/month.
