Retraining the brain is the key to regaining your movement. Have someone move your arm with you to get full range of motion and a pain-free range of motion. If you have some motion in that arm then you can use the other arm to assist yourself as often as possible to move it. There are also some therapy programs that offer virtual reality physical therapy treatment to regain the use of your arm by retraining the brain through virtual reality.
You need to constantly try to move it while looking at it several times per day. Put your arm on a table and try sliding it side to side. But most of all you need to see a physical therapist.
Physical and occupational therapy will help the brain remember how the arm moves and functions. Also at home, you can use your healthy Arm Assistance (hand-over-hand) doing easy exercises. For example, wiping flat surfaces in a left to right and top to bottom direction. For more information about occupational therapy please contact our office.
