Google active and passive stretching techniques. Active stretching (contracting the muscle while performing a stretch) has proven to be the most effective form of stretching. Wondering how to perform a hip flexor stretch?? Youtube has some wonderful demonstrations.
Try doing a psoas release to unlock your hip flexors. Sometimes this is achievable on your own. More often than not, a chiropractor is required to deliver chiropractic adjustments around surrounding areas to mobilize and stabilize key joints. If you find that the psoas release on your own doesn’t seem to help, that is a definite sign that you may need chiropractic care.
Hi and thanks for the question. A good hip flexor stretch is to do a lunge with the affected leg and with the same sided arm reach up to the ceiling/sky. Doing that a couple of times a day should open them up. As for daily activities, aim to stand or move around more often during the day. It may be that you sit for too long, which shortens the fibers of the muscles making them tight in the long run.

I hope that helps!

Sincerely,

The hip flexors get tight and shortened if you sit too much. Try sitting less and add a stretching routine to your daily routine.
Acupressure along the pressure points of the hip flexor muscles will release the hip flexors.
The best way is through Active Release Techniques. Find a provider near you at Activerelease.com.

You need to find out the cause the stiffness or spasms in the flexors and correct it. Then they will relax.
Kneel one leg on soft surface and the other knee is bent in front of you. Use a dowel or rod for stability. Drive your knee forward until you feel a stretch in the front of your opposite hip and groin. Repeat while changing your foot placement.
Myofascial release is the best method to unlock the hip flexors. It is also important to strengthen the core muscles including the gluteal (buttock) muscles.
