I will have a root canal. How long after a root canal can I eat?

I usually tell my patients to eat after the numbness wears off.
You can eat as soon as the anesthesia wears off but avoid chewing on the side where the root canal was done.
Generally taking care eating afterwards, so that you give that area to heal, and also not to break down the tooth until it is fully restored.
It depends on a number of factors. How long can you eat? Some people spend 5 minutes snacking. Others will take hours at an all you can eat buffet. You shouldn't rush your meals, you'll get indigestion. Now, if you are asking how long you have to wait after the root canal to eat, then it is variable. I tell my patients to wait 5 minutes for the temporary to set. Then they may eat *BUT*, if they are still numb, they have to be careful not to bite their lip, tongue, cheek, and not to burn themselves.
Wait till your numbness is gone. Avoid hard and crunchy food till you get your tooth restored by permanent restoration.
You can eat as soon as the local anesthesia wears off. However, you should avoid biting on the tooth which had the root canal for at least 2-3 days after the procedure.
