How to properly treat laryngitis?

I have my first case of laryngitis and want to make sure I treat it correctly.

SYMPTOMS:

I’ve had it for 3 days and it has worsen. It’s itchy, irritating and I can feel like a lump or maybe it’s the swelling on the left side of my throat. I have dry cough and cough excessively and hard during the night and when laying down and sleeping. I haven’t been able to sleep at all. I cough up mucus but have a hard time spitting it out so I keep swallowing it. I threw up last night. The throw up was like a clear color. I also have runny nose.

MEDICATIONS/ ETC.:

I’ve been drinking a lot of room temperature water. Hot Herbal Tea with ginger, lemon, raw pure honey and probiotics. I’ve taken ibuprofen, lozenges and Thera-Flu. I even tried warm salt water and listerine. When I’m in the bathroom, I run the shower so the steam can moist my throat and ease it a bit and that’s pretty much everything.

This may be an infection, such as a peritonsillar abscess.
Everything you say suggests that this is a viral infection and you can expect it to last 3 to 4 days. Symptomatic treatment, as you have been doing, will be of some help, but the virus just needs to run its course. You may want to add an antihistamine (allegra, Zyrtec)to your treatment as it would help with the congestion and drainage. This is all part of an upper respiratory infection (URI). If the drainage becomes colored, yellow or green, then it is most likely bacterial and an antibiotic would be suggested. A more prolonged course would be expected. S
