Acupuncture treatments have different approach, I'd say, it has extended benefits, compare to Chiropractic treatment, but in some cases, you would need a chiropractic care also. It depends on sources and reasons for the pain
Acupuncture works wonders for migraines and even better in conjunction with a trusted and experienced chiropactor.
From my medical experience of 43 years, I believe acupuncture treatment and chiropractor treatment both benefit patients a lot. Both can help with migraine headaches. It is your decision to make.
The short answer is "it depends". If your neck pain is coming from a misalignment of your cervical spine, then chiropractic might be a better option. Those headaches typically originate from the back of the neck and you may feel them around the back of your head. However if the
headaches are at your temples or frontal, acupuncture would be my choice. Hope that helps.

It depends on you, the cause of your migraines, the practitioners who are
doing the treatment. I don't know.
doing the treatment. I don't know.
There’s no direct answer for that. Some migraines respond better to different treatment.
Acupuncture has a strong reputation on helping patients with migraines. And a good acupuncturist will refer you to other therapies when he/she finds that acupuncture is not helping you.
I work very closely with two chiropractors and we refer each other patients all the time.

If an acupuncturist understands your trigger of migraine, it usually takes 6 sessions to take care of the migraine.
Hello!
I would have to say both are equally as good because they are approaching the migraines from different perspectives. Chiropractors will work on aligning the spinal column to help alleviate any pressure on the nerves that may be contributing to migraines. Whereas acupuncture works with a person's physiology and treats the root cause of the migraines. Many times, migraines run in families and there is no issue or problem with the spine. Acupuncture is very effective in reducing the frequency and intensity of these types of migraines as well.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information.

Acupuncture combined with herbs, and sometimes massage, can be very effective in treating migraines.
acupuncture addresses the root cause of migraines and after a few or many sessions people can usually live migraine free
I have had great success treating migraines with acupuncture, but I can’t speak on a chiropractor's behalf.
In my experience depending on the cause of the migraines, acupuncture is better able to resolve the inflammation and pain.
It depends, in my practice I treat migraines and I’m sure chiropractors do treat them as well with adjustments.

Where is the pain? What part of your head? What does the pain feel like (dull, achey, throbbing, sharp/stabby, squeezing/pressure, shooting/radiating)? How old are you? What makes worse or better? Generally, migraines/headaches at the base of the skull (occipital) often are connected to a misalignment of the cervical vertebrae, in my experience, and I would refer a patient to also get chiropractic treatment along with acupuncture. I have had to refer one patient out who had migraines in my 5 years of practice that acupuncture alone didn't really help. Find a fully trained professional in Chinese medicine, possessing a master's degree AND 5+ years experience in this field. MDs, DOs, Chiropractors, and even Physical Therapists (dry needling) are able to do what looks like acupuncture (but isn't) with a couple weekends of training or less. I would NOT let any of these inadequately trained people NEAR ME. :-) Buyer Beware!
I believe acupuncture is more of a long term cure for migraines than chiropractic. You'll have to go in for several treatments, but in the end you should be migraine free or only need a tune up every now and again.
The answer to this question depends on what's causing your migraine. For most migraines, I would think acupuncture is the better bet. However, if the problem is a pinched nerve root in the neck somewhere, then chiropractic might be useful too. I specialize in pain management, including headache and migraine, and it's an unusual situation when I'm not able to provide some level of relief. If you decide to go the acupuncture route, please make sure you're seeing a provider who is NCCAOM board certified and licensed in your state as an acupuncturist.
