“Is bruising a good sign with a sprained ankle?”
I am a 34 year old male. I want to know if bruising is a good sign with a sprained ankle?

Some bruising is be seen after an ankle sprain, but further evaluation is always recommend to rule out a more serious issue.
Bruising indicates ruptured blood vessels or a higher level of injury. A sprain without bruising is typically a lower level injury.
Bruising is bleeding below the skin. Therefore, it is a sign of more extensive damage, possibly a tear as opposed to a sprain or strain to those ankle ligaments or even damage to the bone like a contusion or fracture.

Hello. Bruising is due to the injury you sustained. With an ankle sprain there is injury to soft tissues also resulting in injury to small blood vessels. The bruising is not an indicator of how long the sprain will take to heal.
THE BRUISES ARE NORMAL, NOT GOOD OR BAD. YOU NEED TO IMMOBILIZE YOUR FOOT, KEEP IT HIGH, USE COLS PADS IF IT'S SWELLING, BUT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO VISIT A PODIATRIST.

Not really. It means you partially tore the ligaments involved ( Grade 2 or more ankle sprain)
