Gastroenterologist Questions Gastroenteorlogist

Is it my gallbladder or GERD?

I was diagnosed with GERD when I was 13. I’ve built up a tolerance to and just gotten used to the pain so it hasn’t bothered me too much over the years. I don’t take medications for it because it causes my reflux to flare up more. Within the last few months, my reflux has been unbearable. I’m experiencing extreme pain all the time. it’s been gradually getting worse. I throw up anything I eat. If I am able to keep food down, I have intense stomach/chest pain followed by nausea that lasts for hours. bowel movements are just stomach acid/bile. I'm unable to sleep. If it’s my gallbladder, could that cause my GERD to be more extreme? Both gallbladder and GERD attacks are similar so it’s very difficult to differentiate. Should I seek medical attention?

Yes, see a doctor. Your symptoms cannot be explained by acid reflux alone, which usually just causes heartburn. There is more going on and acid suppression will not solve the problem.
