“Muscle pain and stiffness after puncture wound?”
About 2 to 3 months ago I stepped on an industrial-sized staple made for furniture. The staple went all the way into my foot until it was flush with my foot. One prong went about 1 inch deep into my foot the other was beside it so there was only one puncture wound. I pulled the staple and cleaned and bandaged the wound. I cleaned it twice a day until it healed. I never saw any sign of infection. Still, 2 to 3 months later I still have slight pain in the area of the wound and that side of my foot hurts when I flex it.

The tetanus vaccine is up to date. Also, see your doctor be evaluated for local nerve and tissue damage.
You did not ask a question about this and you did not give information about any medical assessment thus far. But now is likely the time to have it checked. Are you sure nothing was left behind? Consider seeing a podiatric surgeon about this if symptoms persist.
