Dermatologist Questions Pimples

Red bump on nipple

A few weeks ago a small red bump appeared on the outskirts of my areola. I thought it was just a pimple but it still hasn’t gone away in 3 weeks. Should I be concerned? No other symptoms. Looks like a pimple. No whitehead though.

A small red bump on the areola that hasn’t gone away for a few weeks can be concerning, but it’s often not serious. It could be a blocked gland or a condition called Montgomery’s tubercle, which are small bumps around the areola that are normal and can sometimes become more noticeable. However, if it persists and you're concerned, it’s a good idea to have it checked out.

Since you mentioned it looks like a pimple but without a whitehead, and it hasn’t gone away, it’s best to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. They can provide a proper evaluation and ensure there’s no underlying condition.

If you'd like, you can schedule a consultation with Irvine Skin for a thorough check-up and peace of mind.

Hello there! There are different causes for red bumps in that area including blood vessel growths called angiomas, inflamed glands etc. I recommend see a physician/dermatologist that can evaluate, and if needed, biopsy and diagnose this skin condition so appropriate treatment can be given!
