Side effects?

I was given a shot of risperidone a month ago. I also started treatment for aids at the same time. I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia the next week and was given multiple several different iv medications over a 6 day stay. Within days of being released, I got a rash that covers my chest and back and in the past 2 days a rash on my groin that is torturing me with itch. Now I am being told another shot of risperidone and unless I move out of state I have no choice. I'm scared I have been sick since the last one. If it was the risperidone will I get pneumonia again?

One of the very rare side effects of risperidone is a skin reaction. It intensifies based on the other medication and if you are taking chronically, as well as what you’re taking acutely. I would discuss with your provider your symptomatology, the fact that it is easily understood, i.e., print out Wikipedia, you’ll read it all is there. I would let your provider know this is what’s happening. You should be seeing an infectious disease specialist because of your HIV status. That individual would know and should know potential side effects common side effects and rare side effects. I tell people look at the back of an aspirin bottle and see if you would take an aspirin again?! The point is, if you read it and you see it, there’s a lot of really bad things that can happen from something over the counter. Just because it’s over the counter doesn’t make it over the acceptable counter, just means it’s been out for more than 20 years. Talk to your eye doctor specialist as soon as you can about the potential and the possibility of a risperidone interaction with you or with you and your medications.
God bless, thank you for asking, and I hope I was of help.
